The certified path to more climate protection

Climate certificates as the last step towards climate neutrality

Get on the path to climate neutrality by regularly and comprehensively assessing your company's emissions on the basis of a CO2 balance, initiating and continuously developing ambitious reduction measures as well as offsetting unavoidable emissions through high-quality climate protection projects.

The path to achieving your Climate Certificate

Carbon footprint

By creating a carbon footprint, your company's Scope 1, Scope 2, and selected Scope 3 emissions will be identified. On this basis, targeted reduction measures can be implemented. he CO2 balance is carried out in accordance with the internationally recognized standard of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Once the process has been completed, you will receive an emissions report that includes results as well as a proposed reduction plan and measures for guidance. In the event of certification, the carbon footprint is renewed every two years in accordance with our award criteria.

Reduction

In the event of certification, companies are obliged to make efforts to reduce their emissions. The reduction measures will be requested from the company as part of the CO2 balance. The aim is to ensure that avoidable emissions are reduced to the greatest extent possible and not just compensated.

Compensation

Once avoidable emissions have been reduced as far as possible, we offer you the opportunity to compensate for unavoidable emissions through high-quality climate protection projects and thus achieving "climate neutrality" on your balance sheet. Only climate protection certificates of recognized standards are permitted (see basis for awarding).

Climate protection projects

Our climate protection projects are based on the CO2 compensation principle of the Kyoto Protocol (Clean Development Mechanism, CDM), according to which greenhouse gases that are produced in one place on earth and cannot be avoided are saved by climate protection projects in another place.

We take great care when selecting the projects that we support to compensate for greenhouse gases. We only support projects that are accredited, licensed and monitored in accordance with one of two internationally recognized certification standards. The validation of the project results in terms of the CO2 savings achieved is certified by independent auditing bodies. This allows us to guarantee a high quality standard for climate protection projects.

Recognized standards include the United Nations CDM and the Gold Standard. Both ensure that the projects within the framework of the Clean Development Mechanism meet the highest standards.

CDM projects are certified by bodies recognized by the United Nations. They support projects within the framework of the "Clean Development Mechanism", which is one of the three flexible mechanisms for reducing greenhouse gas emissions provided for in the Kyoto Protocol.

The Gold Standard certificate was developed by several environmental organizations. It ensures that projects under the "Clean Development Mechanism" meet the highest standards.
